Zen Shiatsu is a unique and gentle form of bodywork that balances the energy in your body.
Based on Eastern philosophies and methods of healing, shiatsu treats the meridian pathways within the body that channel qi energy – our life essence. You experience this energy when you move, breathe, eat and digest your food, think, feel, and communicate with the world around you.
If the energy within the meridians gets blocked, stops moving, or stagnates, it can result in physical, psychological, and emotional imbalances, which means other parts of the body have to work twice as hard to pick up the slack. This course will teach you how can use Zen Shiatsu to help treat deficiencies and rebalance your client’s energy to reach a natural state of relaxation, while also providing a clinically therapeutic musculoskeletal treatment.
Learning to give a basic Zen Shiatsu massage is quite easy. This two-part series course is a practical introduction to the art of Zen Shiatsu massage. You will learn the basic palming techniques for tonfication, personal qi development, basic Hara (abdomen) diagnosis and a variety of energy balancing techniques.

There are no pre-requisities for this course. All you need is some comfortable clothes, a desire to help others and a willing mind and body. Please note that shiatsu is carried out on the floor, so please talk to our course advisors if you have any health issues that would impede your participation.
Lisa Masters holds qualifications in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Remedial and Oriental Therapies, Remedial Yoga Therapy, and Zen Shiatsu Therapy. Over her 26 year-career, Lisa has been treating people with various conditions including Bell’s Palsy and stroke victims, cancer, MS, Parkinson Disease, sporting and musculoskeletal injuries, digestive disorders, depression, and anxiety.
With an extensive knowledge of Oriental therapies and the Qi meridians, Lisa’s treatments encompass both Western and Eastern philosophies to the benefit of every client, creating a complete holistic treatment package for body, mind and spirit. Lisa has a passion for health and passing on her extensive knowledge to students with techniques that forms this unique bodywork therapy.
The completion of the COTY Introduction to Zen Shiatsu Massage course places you in an ideal position to start our Diploma of Zen Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies to become a qualified Shiatsu Therapist. Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll also be eligible for a discount of $200 toward this 12-month Diploma of Zen Shiatsu training program.
At the end of the course, you may be eligible for CPD points, which are credit hours that associations such as Yoga Australia allocates to its members.
